This beautiful bubble shell lives throughout the tropical Pacific, including Hawaii. While many sea slugs have lost their shell, Haminoea retains a transparent, bubble-like shell through which the striking color pattern of its body is visible. All sea slugs are hermaphroditic, that is they are both male and female, so every individual can lay eggs after mating. The egg mass is a coiled, gelatinous string, within which embryos are further encased in tiny egg capsules. Haminoea cymbalum grazes on red algae on reefs.
